David Verse: 1 kings 17:1-7 Do you have a secret hiding place? That is the question posed by Ps. David during youth service on 12/03/2011. Quoting from 1Kings 17: 1-7, Ps. David took up the example of one of Bible’s giants, Elijah. The points given are as below: 1. Elijah hiding at a secret place Before Elijah started his ministry as God’s prophet, Elijah hid at a secret place at Kerith ravine. Therefore, the beginning of ministry starts from having a secret place where we come face to face with God to gain strength and faith. To us, we should not be robbed of our secret hiding place where we can come and meet face to face with God. Without a secret hiding place, we would only see our problems, negativity and impossibility. Halfway through the sermon, Ps. David also challenged everyone to keep quiet to see what they think of. Ps. David challenged everyone to forget worldly matters to be able to just focus on God. 2. A victorious Elijah Elijah was very victorious when he spent time in his secret hiding place meeting God. On a personal level, he began to do miracles such as resurrecting dead people. As such, this affects the people around him when others began to see his great God. He began to be able to bless others and change them. As his ministry got bigger, Elijah was able to change his country when he rid the country of false prophets and released the rain which helped the country economically. Do you have a hiding place? If you don’t have a hiding place to meet God, you will be overwhelmed with problems and negativity. Therefore, we must have a secret hiding place to gain strength in God. David The service starts with the announcement about the coming Youth Camp by Ps. David. As proclaimed with faith during the last Youth Camp, GA611 BOL Youth intends to make this year’s Youth Camp and international event by inviting youths from GK611 (Singapore) and 611 branches in Kuching and Sibu. It was more incredible when GK611 already booked 80 places for their youths, leaving only 120 places for the other 3 churches. It has to be a happening year for GA Youth!! Life is for revival (2 Kings 20) Background In the olden times in the kingdom of Judah, there lived a king named King Hezekiah. The sermon starts from when Hezekiah was told by God through prophet that he would die in a short time because of his illness. Immediately, King Hezekiah prayed to God to avert his death. What can we learn from King Hezekiah’s prayer? 1. Following and obedience in hardest times (v. 1-11) a)      Prayer is immediate (v.4) When King Hezekiah prayed to God after being told by prophet that he would die soon, God immediately heard his prayer and asked the same prophet to pass word to King Hezekiah that he would not die. Many times when we pray, we feel that our prayer is far and is hard to be accomplished. However, we must believe that whenever we pray, God immediately listens to us. It’s that God has His own timing and sometimes, the evil ones would block our prayers. Therefore, we must pray unceasingly. b)      Prayer must be vocal. (v.2, 5) When King Hezekiah prayed, God told him that He had already heard his prayer. As such, we must pray desperately to God by opening our mouth and be loud! c)       Prayer needs tears (v.3, 5) When King Hezekiah prayed, he cried out to God and in response, God told him that He have seen his tears. Coming back to the present, when we see that there are so many unsaved souls around us, we cannot just pray without crying out to God for their souls! d)      Prayer can make changes When King Hezekiah prayed about his impending death, God heard his prayer and His words changed from ‘You will die!’ to ‘You will not die!’. e)      Prayer brings miracles (v.4-6) When King Hezekiah asked for a sign that he would live and not die, God granted his wish by making the shadow went back 10 steps. This was even witnessed by envoys from Babylon. Defiance during good times (v.12-21) However, the total opposite happened when King Hezekiah was well. 1. Arrogance (v.12-15) When King Hezekiah was well, he forgot God and showed to messengers of Babylon the riches of his country. There was nothing that he didn’t show! In truth, he should have praised God and glorify God for his riches. Prophet Isaiah therefore told him that in the future, all the riches would be carted to Babylon and his male generations would become eunuchs in the palace of Babylon. This was supposed to be tragic but King Hezekiah instead said that it is good as it won’t happen during his time. Therefore, we should not forget God no matter if we’re in bad times or good times. Remember, God controls everything!! 2. Near sighted a)      Only care about the present (v.16-19) b)      Doesn’t care about the future Our life must bring revival. Our life shall not be wasted on present matters but instead to bring revival to our generation and the next! What's Hot elijahooi@ga611bol.org no no http://gayouth.net/follow-gods-trend http://gayouth.net/follow-gods-trend#comments Sat, 09 Apr 2011 13:58:55 +0000 louis http://gayouth.net/?p=413 http://gayouth.net/follow-gods-trend/feed 4 0:04:17 讲员：张伟良实习传道 如何走进神的潮流 马可福音， 二章 我们活在一个跟从潮流的时代里面，现在流行Ipad2 所以我们就很想拥有，或是潮流的服装Brueberry，Gucci，LV等等。跟随潮流的当中，我们会不会问到底谁是那位设计师？到底这个苹果的素质如何？为什么我们需要知道，因为那是我们要跟随的，所以我们必须认识他！当我们不认识他的时候我们就会有很多的问题？ 在圣经里，法理赛人也是不断的问耶稣为什么？ a)      第七章 - 这个人为什么 这样说呢？他说僭妄的话了。除了神以外，谁能赦罪呢？ b)      第十六章-法利赛人中的文士（有古卷：文士和法利赛人）看见耶稣和罪人并税吏一同吃饭，就对他门徒说：「他和税吏并罪人一同吃喝吗？ c)      第十八章- 当下，约翰的门徒和法利赛人禁食。他们来问耶稣说：「约翰的门徒和法利赛人的门徒禁食，你的门徒倒不禁食，这是为什么 呢？」 d)      第二十四章- 法利赛人对耶稣说：「看哪，他们在安息日为什么做不可做的事呢？ 如何走在神的潮流？ （一）我们必须认识神 a)      耶稣有赦罪的权柄（v1-12） 耶稣用一个瘸子的得医治来显出他有赦罪的权柄。今天有许多的人就像瘸子一样，需要有人抬来见耶稣，耶稣是因着他们的信心，让他们得着医治，并罪得赦免，人的需要可以满足。 例子：今天这里所有的基督徒，我们也是因着信心，相信那看不见的神，确实是真实存在的神，我们的罪才被赦免，我们才能得救。 b)      耶稣与罪人坐席 （v13-17） 耶稣呼召一班罪人来跟从他，文士法利赛人就指控他与罪人坐席。但是耶稣却跨越罪的界线，去到罪人当中，去爱他们。特别在17节，耶稣说：“我来本不是召义人，乃是召罪人”。 例子：我们有哪一位是义人呢？都没有对不对？耶稣是召罪人的神，叫我们能够因信称义。 （二）我们必须面对自己里面的冲击 a)      信心的冲击（v1-12） 很多时候当我们不能相信的时候，我们就无法接受，这就是信心不足的时候。 例子：我们要相信成就的是神，所以我们必须求神帮助我们，扩大我们的信心。 b)      看法的冲击 （v13-17） 耶稣面对当时许多不同看法的冲击，但是耶稣选择胜过这些看法的冲击，走在真理当中。 今天我们也会面对许多看法上的冲击，我们基督徒会选择妥协还是选择站在真理上呢？ c)      框框的冲击 （18-22） 犹太人有一个习惯要定一些日子来禁食，为了要纪念穷人！生活习惯慢慢会成为我们的框框，使我们失去自由。这些框框，是我们都必须突破的。 d)      传统的冲击 （23-28） 法利赛人批评门徒在安息日作工，然而安息日的真正意义是神怜恤我们的需要，并使其满足。因此，当门徒肚子饿了，耶稣就让他们吃。神设立安息日不是用来辖制人，使人失自由。它真正的意义是要人有休息的时间，能够来到神面前敬拜。 例子：教会晨祷的设立，并不是为了辖制我们，而是要我们更加的亲近神。 （三）我们必须心意更新 新布新酒 （v21-22） 我们不要满足于现在，我们要不断地更新，我们要向神求更多，更大的事！ 总结：我们需要不断的心意更新，要有新布新衣，新酒新皮袋的观念！ Speaker: IP.
