Speaker: Ps. David
Verse: 1 kings 17:1-7

Do you have a secret hiding place? That is the question posed by Ps. David during youth service on 12/03/2011. Quoting from 1Kings 17: 1-7, Ps. David took up the example of one of Bible’s giants, Elijah. The points given are as below:

1. Elijah hiding at a secret place
Before Elijah started his ministry as God’s prophet, Elijah hid at a secret place at Kerith ravine. Therefore, the beginning of ministry starts from having a secret place where we come face to face with God to gain strength and faith. To us, we should not be robbed of our secret hiding place where we can come and meet face to face with God. Without a secret hiding place, we would only see our problems, negativity and impossibility.

Halfway through the sermon, Ps. David also challenged everyone to keep quiet to see what they think of. Ps. David challenged everyone to forget worldly matters to be able to just focus on God.

2. A victorious Elijah
Elijah was very victorious when he spent time in his secret hiding place meeting God. On a personal level, he began to do miracles such as resurrecting dead people. As such, this affects the people around him when others began to see his great God. He began to be able to bless others and change them. As his ministry got bigger, Elijah was able to change his country when he rid the country of false prophets and released the rain which helped the country economically. Do you have a hiding place? If you don’t have a hiding place to meet God, you will be overwhelmed with problems and negativity. Therefore, we must have a secret hiding place to gain strength in God. We can only bring changes to ourselves, to others and to our country when we have our own hiding place with God
